Quiz Bowl Team Loses Wisner-Pilger Duel
By: Morgan Bunner, a freshman at Leigh High School
The Quiz Bowl team fell short against tough and smart competitors from Wisner-Pilger on Tuesday, January 5 in the KTCH Quiz Bowl Competition. This was the first round of the 78-school, single-elimination competition. It was a close match, as Leigh lost to Wisner-Pilger by one question with the final being 1-2. This eliminated Leigh from the competition
“The quiz bowl is an excellent opportunity for students to use their acquired knowledge and to think on their feet,” Quiz Bowl Sponsor Karen Hillen said. “Unfortunately, we can’t really study for the quiz bowl questions, but by using a team effort, the students can use their cumulative knowledge to give the best guess. I’m proud of the students who served on the team."
This year’s team consists of Cassidy Hoffman, Emily Loseke, and Kanyon Held. Calvin Wemhoff and Kyle Holmberg are the alternates.
“Even though we didn't make it past the first round, we answered one question correctly. The end result may not show it, but I feel we did our best and represented our school fairly well," Loseke said.
