The Clarkson-Leigh FBLA chapter has a subcommittee group, called “FBLA Go Green,” that’s focused on promoting environmental awareness in both Clarkson and Leigh schools. The chapter receives recognition for these efforts at State.
On Thursday, January 28 the chapter washed fire trucks at the Clarkson Fire Department as their annual service project.
In addition, the Go Green group organized an Elementary coloring contest in both Leigh and Clarkson schools through January 18-22nd. K-6 students were involved in this contest, and preschool classes also colored their own pages.
The winners from Leigh are captioned in the group picture, and the Clarkson winners are as follows:
Preschool - Elenore Kudera
Kindergarten - Birkley Balzer
1st grade - Grace Olson
2nd grade - Hadley Brabec
3rd grade - Annelisse Pocasangre
4th grade - Alaina Sayers
5th grade - Ella Olson
To educate students, FBLA Go Green created “Go Green” posters that were displayed in both schools through the month of December. They also provided environmental fun facts through the daily bulletin.
Finally, on January 20th FBLA chapter members wrote environmental promises, such as taking shorter showers, recycling school papers, and turning off unnecessary lights. These environmental promises were then displayed on a leaf cutout on a bulletin board in the school hallway.
