“Kind Connection” Project

By: Leigh High School Journalism Staff

Everyone deserves kindness, but it’s easy to forget the value of kindness in the hustle and bustle of life. A simple way to remember is to pay kindness forward.

In the spirit of kindness and community, LHS senior Emily Loseke is completing a FCCLA project that supports the national FCCLA program “Stand Up,” which helps members in advocacy activities to improve the quality of life and make a positive impact in communities.

Through this project, Loseke started the Leigh Secret Kindness Agency, which has completed over 800 kind acts; the Kind Characters for younger Elementary students; and now a Kind Connection for community members.

The Kind Connection promotes kindness within our community and reminds us to pay kindness forward.

Starting soon, three community members will become part of the Kind Connection. After receiving the random act of kindness, it’ll be up to them to pay kindness forward and continue the connection. If at all possible, continue the connection within 24 hours of receiving it.

When a person becomes part of the Kind Connection, they’ll receive a random act of kindness, such as a thank you letter, inspirational note, letter explaining why they’re amazing, a $1-5 small gift with a kind note, or another act of kindness.

In addition, a Kind Connection notebook will be attached. This is where community members can sign their name (or remain anonymous) and write kind messages for others in the connection to read. This notebook is like a community message board, so individual gifts and letters should be written separately.

A poster explaining the benefits of kindness and a rules sheet will also be attached. These things and the notebook must be passed along through the connection.

Finally, please keep this Kind Connection local, as its goal is to promote kindness within our community. However, feel free to start your own Kind Connection elsewhere or simply share another act of kindness. After all, kindness shouldn’t be limited, as everyone deserves it.

Please continue this Kind Connection and pay kindness forward. You’ll do amazing, so thank you in advance!
