Senior Spotlight: Cassidy Hoffman

By: Kayden Schumacher, a senior at Leigh High School

On March 20, 2003, in Norfolk, Nebraska, Kelli and Ryan Hoffman were blessed with the birth of their oldest daughter, Cassidy Marie Hoffman.

Cassidy has three younger siblings: Jessica, age 15; Elizabeth, age 13; and Trevor, age 10. Cassidy’s grandparents are Karen and Rodger Bruhn of Leigh and Bonnie and Terry Hoffman of Wakefield. Of course, the Hoffman family wouldn’t be complete without their four beloved cats: Merida, Fro, Tigger, and Sassy.

Throughout high school, Cassidy has been highly involved in many extracurricular activities. She participated in FCCLA for six years; volleyball, basketball, FBLA, journalism, and One-Act for four years; and yearbook, National Honor Society, Youth Advisory Committee, and Quiz Bowl for three years.

With these activities has come many accomplishments and honors. Cassidy has received EHC 1st Team All-Conference in volleyball, Academic All-State Scholar Athlete (Lincoln Journal Star), EHC 2nd Team All-Conference in Basketball, EHC Outstanding Actress in One-Act, and FCCLA STAR National Medalist.

Cassidy’s proudest achievement is making it to state basketball and volleyball. Going hand in hand with this, Cassidy’s favorite high school memory is beating GACC in the district championship to go to state.

So many people have molded Cassidy into the great person she is today, but Cassidy says her parents are her biggest role models because “they work so hard and are very knowledgeable about almost everything.” She aspires to be like them someday.

Cassidy’s favorite subject in school is Culinary Arts, and her favorite Netflix series is Vampire Diaries. Her favorite sport team is the Huskers.

Cassidy recalls her most embarrassing moment in high school was getting her car stolen; she says she was an emotional wreck. Cassidy doesn’t have very good luck with cars, as she also recalls backing into the school van that was parked behind her.

Cassidy’s future plans after she graduates are to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to become an accountant. In 10-15 years, she wishes to be living in Leigh again with a family of her own, and she hopes to be working a good job.

Cassidy’s advice to underclassmen is: “High school goes so fast. Enjoy the ride and always make sure you take advantage of all the different opportunities offered at Leigh.”

We wish Cassidy the best of luck on her future endeavors!
