By, Jacob Martensen, a freshman at Leigh High School

This month’s “Student of the Month” winners have been announced, and without further ado, the winners are Kevin Becerril and Natalie Brabec.

Both winners are juniors, and they have both already won this award in previous years.

Kevin is the son of Juan and Luz Becerril.  He has two younger brothers, Roque and Jose.

Kevin participates in One-Act play and Youth Advisory Committee.  His favorite subject in school is PE.  His favorite hobby outside of school is making pizzas at the mini mart.

After high school Kevin plans to attend Northeast Community College to obtain a Criminal Justice degree.

“I want to thank all the teachers who voted for me for this award,” Kevin said.  “And the gift certificate is nice too.”

Here is what Kevin’s teachers had to say about him:

--“Kevin is deserving of this award because he is an extremely hard worker in the classroom, and he has a great personality.  He is always sure to tell you hello and good morning in the hallway and always ready for a laugh when it is needed.”

--“Kevin is hard-working, friendly, and helpful.  He is truly a joy to have in class.”

Natalie Brabec is the other winner this month.

Natalie is the daughter of Dustin and Melissa Brabec.  She has one older sister, Abbi.  She is the granddaughter of Cal and Sue Fuhr and Charmayne Brabec.  She is the great-granddaughter of Carolee Mullenhoff and Gordon and Norma Fuhr.

Natalie is very involved in extracurricular activities and participates in FCCLA, FFA, FBLA, Youth Advisory Committee, yearbook, journalism National Honor Society, volleyball, and One-Act.  She also dances at Steps at Tiffany’s.

Natalie’s favorite subject in school is social studies, and her favorite thing to do outside of school is spend time with family.  Her future plans at the moment are to attend Northeast Community College to pursue something in the business field.

"This is such an honor to receive this award and I am excited about what the rest of the school year will hold," Brabec said.

Here is what Natalie’s teachers had to say about her:

--“Natalie has a great attitude, and she is always helpful, very responsible, outgoing, involved, polite, kind, and hard working.

--Natalie is a very pleasant student who is very helpful and kind. She always tries her hardest and is very enjoyable to have in class.”

Congratulations to these awesome LHS students!
