BBB Finishes Regular Season 12-9

By: Jessica Hoffman, a sophomore at Leigh High School

On February 19th the boys’ basketball team played David City at Clarkson in their final home game of the year. They played hard, beating the school with only three wins by more than 20 points. The final varsity score was 61-38.

As of this game, their season record is 12-9.

During the boys-only night, the JV played competitively and made their final score 44-18. They ended their JV season off with a good note. The JV final record stands at 9-6.

The varsity also all came together to play a good offensive and defensive game.  Their top three scorers combined had more than 40 points. Kyle Kasik finished the game with 18, Eli Hays with 15, and Carter Hanel with 10. They played a really good game to finish out their regular season!

Coach Jeff Bachman said, “I was very pleased with our effort. We played a really good offensive and defensive game. This was a nice win for us against a steadily improving team.”

Leigh sophomore Mason Whitmore also agreed saying, “We knew going into this game we had to show up and play at our best because they weren’t just gonna lay down for us. We were the better team but still had to play to our best potential. They hit some big shots in the first quarter, and we were only able to take the lead by 3 points. Second half came, and we found our groove and beat them. All in all, we played well as a team.”
