By: Cassidy Hoffman, a senior at Leigh High School
The beautiful Alissa Marie Kasik was born to Joe and Heather Kasik on August 24, 2002. She has since grown into a successful, caring, and hardworking young woman.
Alissa has four siblings: Hannah (20), Kyle (16), Ava (13), and Mariah (8). Her grandparents are Alice Krenk of Schuyler, NE, and Lawrence & Marilyn Kasik, also of Schuyler, NE. Marilyn and Hannah Kasik are some of the people she admires most because they are so humble and caring and have taught her so much about life.
Throughout her high school career, Alissa has been involved in a variety of extracurricular activities. She has participated in volleyball, basketball, one act, journalism, FFA, and FBLA for all four years. She also has been a member of National Honor Society and yearbook for three years. She was a member of the band for two years and ran track for one year.
Alissa has been very successful in the extracurricular activities she’s been involved in. She was a letter winner two times for volleyball, three times for basketball, four times for One Act, three times for journalism, and once for track. Her other honors include being 2020 Volleyball Honorable Mention All-Conference, December 2018 Student of the Month, FFA Historian, and the 2018, 2019, and 2020 Agricultural FFA Top Student Award.
Outside of school and extracurricular activities, Alissa enjoys running, working out, spending time with friends, and working as a CNA. Her favorite musician is Morgan Wallen, and she likes watching Grey’s Anatomy, Friends, Nicholas Sparks movies, and comedies.
Her proudest accomplishment is making it to state in both volleyball and basketball. These sports also gave her some of her favorite memories with teammates, coaches, and even the community that she will forever remember.
When asked what advice she would give to underclassmen, she said, “Don’t take anything for granted, live a little, and enjoy everything that high school and sports bring to you because it goes by faster than you think.”
Alissa plans on attending Northeast Community College and major in nursing. In 10-15 years, she hopes to be living in a small town with her husband and kids with a job as a Registered Nurse.
We wish Alissa good luck in all her future endeavors!
