Friday night lights are back for the Clarkson-Leigh Patriots.

The Patriots are coming off a 4-5 record in the 2020 season, and looking to shake things up in Class D1 this year.

There are 33 players on this year’s roster.  They are once again led by Mr. Jim Clarkson and assisted by Jeff Bachman, Jorge Gomez, Eric Hays, Bob McEvoy, and Matt Murren.

This year’s football season should be a lot of fun,” Coach Clarkson said.  “We have a lot of guys that have been working hard and putting in a lot of time.  They are a really fun group that plays the game hard.  We have a very tough schedule, which will produce some tough challenges, but we are ready to embrace those challenges and play with energy every Friday night.”

They are led by senior class Kanyon Held, Eli Hays, Carter Hanel, Bryce Jurgensen, Cooper Vance, Dillan Mapel, and Mitchel Beeson.

Juniors on the team include Mason Whitmore, Kyle Kasik, Jase Indra, Drew Beeson, Dalton Zulkouski, Jackson Koehn, and Kyle Holmberg.

Sophomores are Ryan Brichacek, Jaden Stoklasa, Isaac Baumert, Joey Steffensmeier, Dylan Higby, Trey Steffensmeier, Jack Brabec, Garrett Stodola, Conner Jurgensen, Troy Graybill, Jordan Noonan, James Grotelueschen, Christian Hamernik, Nathan Bahns, Andrew Rivera, Samuel Pocasangre.

Rounding out the team are freshmen Nile Jones, Jacob Koehn, and Korbin Lemburg.

The Patriots start their season on August 27 against Cross County.  Throughout the rest of the season, they will do battle with Elmwood-Murdock, East Butler, Stanton, GACC, Madison, Wisner-Pilger, and Howells-Dodge.

Senior Kanyon Held said, “I am excited for this year. We are returning a lot of guys from last year and have a lot of experience coming back. We have a tough schedule but I can’t wait to see what we can do.”
