Cyclones Lose Both in Mid-week Triangular
By: Sydney Reeves, a junior at Leigh High School
The Cyclones have had a busy start to their season, playing 7 games in 6 days, the last of which was a triangular against Guardian Angels Central Catholic and Tekameh-Herman on Thursday, August 26.
The Cyclones’ first game was against Guardian Angels Central Catholic. The Bluejays took an early lead, scoring three runs in the first inning and three in the third inning.
Highway 91 battled the whole game, but weren’t able to score any runs. The score ended 0-8.
After having a tough loss to GACC, the Cyclones were hopeful for a better turnout in the second and last game of the night. Although it was a better outcome than the first game, the Cyclones were still not able to handle the Tigers either. The Cyclones managed to keep the score tight until the fourth inning when the game slipped away from them with Tekamah taking the lead by three. The final score was 3-7.
Freshman Amaiya Ross said, “I feel like we played hard even though we lost. We put in a lot of effort on defense and at bat.”
These games bring the Cyclones record to 4-3.
