Mrs. Brianne Bachman Brings Love of Science to Leigh Students!

By: Aubrie Hanna, a sophomore at Leigh High School

Our next “New Teacher” Feature of the school year is Mrs. Brianne Bachman.

At the beginning of this year, Mrs. Brianne Bachman took over teaching science at the high school after Ms. Jayden Pokorney moved to teaching K-12 Special Education.

If anyone is keeping track, there are three Bachman’s on the teaching staff now!

Mrs. Bachman graduated from Meridian High School in 2008, and then went on to pursue a Natural Science Secondary Education degree at Wayne State College. She is currently working on earning her Master’s of Science Education from UNK.

Before coming to teach at Leigh, Mrs. Bachman taught at four different schools, including St. Robert Bellarmine in Omaha, Omaha Mercy High School, Winside Public School, and West Point Public Schools. This year, she will be coaching junior high volleyball and high school track.

Outside of school, Mrs. Bachman enjoys working out, playing sand volleyball, reading, and spending time with her family.

She is married to Andy Bachman, the new math teacher at Leigh.  Mr. and Mrs. Bachman have two kids, Raelynn, a Kindergartener, and Drextyn, a pre-schooler.

When asked about her thoughts about the years to come at Leigh, Mrs. Bachman said, “I am very excited to be at Leigh. I look forward to sharing my love of science, sports, and extracurricular activities with students and the community. I can’t wait to watch my children grow up in this community and see all that will be achieved.”
