JV Patriots End Day 2-1 at Wisner

The Patriot JV team played at the Wisner-Pilger volleyball tournament and came out with two wins and one loss on Saturday, September 11, 2021.

For the first game they played O’Neill and came out with the win in 3 sets. The game ended with Sammy McEvoy leading the Patriots with 7 kills.  Close behind her was Brynn Settje and Tanyn Larson with 5 kills apiece. Baylee Settje led the team with 2 blocks. Cadence Indra and Brynn Settje both added 3 aces.

The Patriots then went on to the second game playing against GACC. They ended up losing in 3 sets. The Patriots left that game with Brynn Settje leading the team with 6 kills.  Close behind her was McEvoy and Cadence Indra with 5 kills. McEvoy also contributed 2 blocks and 5 aces.  

The Patriots’ last game of the tournament was against BRLD. To end the day off strong, they ended up winning against BRLD in three sets. In this match, Larson led the Patriots to victory with 8 kills.  McEvoy also dominated the serve game with 6 aces. Baylee Settje and McEvoy also added 2 blocks each. 

Freshman Izabel Hollatz was asked how she thought the games went:

 “We played really well and ended up winning two games out of the three,” Hollatz said. “We still have some things we need to work on, but we are improving every game.”

JV Coach Jennifer Remmereid was also asked about how the games went, and she said, “Our JV team battled well at the tournament Saturday. Our serves were tough and our hitters connected well with our setters. We were challenged on serve receive at times but overall, we played well throughout the day.”
