Patriots Roll Over East Butler For Second Win

The Clarkson Leigh Patriot football team traveled to East Butler on September 10, 2021, to take on the East Butler Tigers. The Patriots came into the game with a record of 1-1. They wasted no time jumping out to an early lead.
Sophomore quarterback Ryan Brichacek reached the end zone first for the Patriots after he punched in a two-yd rushing touchdown. Clarkson Leigh failed to put in the two-point conversion.
Senior Carter Hanel added to the Patriots’ total next after he punched in a 1-yd rushing touchdown putting the Patriots up 12-0. After a failed two-point conversion, the score remained the same until the second quarter.
Hanel rushed for another 1-yd rushing touchdown at the beginning of the second quarter. The Patriots failed to put in the two-point conversion. East Butler reached the scoreboard next after a 7-yd passing touchdown. The Tigers put in the two-point conversion, coming with 10 of the Patriots.
The Patriots got the momentum right back after sophomore Dylan Higby returned a kickoff back 70 yds. Senior Kanyon Held put the two-point conversion in afterwards.
Mason Whitmore reached the end zone off a 49 yd pass from Brichacek. Higby then ran in the two-point conversion, putting the Patriots up 34-8. Higby reached the end zone one more time at the end of the 2nd quarter with a 42-yd rushing touchdown. The Patriots failed on the two-point conversion, but were still up 40-8 going into halftime.
In the third quarter, the Patriots were still full steam ahead.
They added two more touchdowns to their score. Hanel scored off a 3-yd rushing touchdown and Whitmore scored off a 20-yd interception return. Higby and Held ran in the two-point conversions.
East Butler also scored in the third quarter off a 14-yd pass. They failed to put in
the two-point conversion, making the score 56-14 Patriots going into the fourth quarter.
The Tigers reached the scoreboard first in the fourth quarter on a 5-yd rushing touchdown with a successful two-point conversion.
Getting lots of players in on the action, the Patriots answered back after sophomore Garrett Stodola scored a 12-yd rushing touchdown. Jase Indra ran in the two-point conversion afterwards. Joey Steffensmeier also reached the end zone in the fourth quarter when he ran in a 22-yd rushing touchdown.
The Patriots were unsuccessful on the two-point conversion making the final score 70-22 Clarkson Leigh.
Higby rushed for 100 yards on the night, and Brichacek threw for 88. Held led the team in tackles with 5 tackles and 7 assisted tackles.
