Cyclones Make Quick Work of SSC

By: Carter Brabec, a freshman at Leigh High School

The bus ride to South Sioux City and back may have taken more time than the game itself when the Patriots battled the SSC Cardinals on Tuesday, September 7.

The Cyclones opened the night off by putting two runs on the board in the first inning and holding South Sioux City to 0. Then in the second inning the Cyclones came off very determined and blew the score wide open, scoring 15 unanswered runs.

Each team put one more run on the board in the third inning to end the game in a blowout Cyclone win, 18-1.

The game was a three-inning game because of such the big lead that the Cyclones had.

Junior Sydney Reeves said, “We worked together as a team and earned an early lead allowing us to get the win in just three innings. We hit the ball really well and only made a few defensive errors.”
