The Patriot boys’ wrestling season is off and running.  On December 2 of this year, the Clarkson-Leigh wrestling team attended the High Plains quad to start the season off. After that, they competed in the Howells-Dodge tournament.

Sophomore wrestler Dylan Higby said, “Howells was a good first tournament and started our season bringing home a few medals.”

The boys that attended the Howells-Dodge tournament were freshman Jacob Koehn, wrestling 152; sophomores Isaac Baumert, wrestling 132, Higby, wrestling 138, and Jaden Stoklasa, wrestling 135;  junior Jackson Koehn, wrestling 182; and seniors Bryce Jurgensen, wrestling 120, and Cooper Vance, wrestling 285.

In the 120 weight class, Bryce Jurgensen placed 3rd overall. In the 132 weight class Isaac Baumert placed 4th overall. In the 138 weight class Dylan Higby placed 1st overall. In the 152 weight class Jacob Koehn got 6th place overall. In the 182 weight class Jackson Koehn placed 2nd. In the 285 weight class, Cooper Vance placed 2nd overall.

Coach Tyler Reeves said, “At the High Plains quad, it was a good competition for us to start the season, and we competed pretty well. It was not our best night with guys still finding different weight classes, but at Howells-Dodge had a much better performance, and we wrestled much better, finishing fourth as a team.
