Patriot Boys Hopeful for Strong Season

By: Carter Brabec, a freshman at Leigh High School

The Patriot boys’ basketball team is back and looking to be better than ever.

The Patriots are coming off a 13-10 record that saw them finish the season very strong.  They are once again led by head coach Mr. Jeff Bachman and assistants Andrew Faltys and Willie Hollatz.

They are led by very large senior class comprised of Kanyon Held, Eli Hays, Carter Hanel, Mitchel Beeson, Jared Novotny, Jacob Eisenmann, Zane Williams, Gavin Novotny, Kyan Schnelle, Isaac Rodenburg, and Logan Schroeder

Juniors include Mason Whitmore, Kyle Kasik, Drew Beeson, Dalton Zulkouski, and Kyle Holmberg.

Sophomores are Ryan Brichacek, Joey Steffensmeier, Trey Steffensmeier, Jack Brabec, Conner Jurgensen, Jordan Noonan, Christian Hamernik, and Max Muhle

Rounding out the team are freshmen Zach Gall, Treven Boruch, Korbin Lemburg, and Carter Brabec.

The starting five at this point in time are Kyle Kasik, Jarred Novotny, Eli Hays, Carter Hanel and Mitchel Beeson.

Mr. Jeff Bachman said, “I am looking forward to this season. I really enjoy working with this group and appreciate how hard they are working. I am looking forward to seeing what they can achieve.”

The Patriot boys made the trek to Wynot on November 30th for a jamboree practice game that does not count toward their record. This first outing resulted in a loss to a solid Wynot team.

Mr. Jeff Bachman said, “The jamboree game with Wynot was a great opportunity to work some early kinks out. We figured out some deficiencies and some areas of strength.

Kyle Kasik said, “We put in a lot of off season work and are ready for the 21-22 basketball season. With a lot of returning talent we plan to have a solid season and hopefully a run in the state tournament.”
