Two Big Wins Against Jaguars, Vikings for BBB

            The Leigh Patriot boys’ basketball team has a jumped out to a 5-1 start heading into the Christmas break!

On December 18, 2021, there was a huge matchup for boys’ basketball held in Howells versus the Clarkson-Leigh Patriots. The Patriot boys knocked off the defending state runner-up Jaguars! This is only the second time in Patriot boys’ basketball history that the boys have beat the Jaguars. 

            In the third and fourth quarter, the Patriots scored 28 combined, which helped lead to dominating the Jaguars. 

            Eli Hays led the team with 22 points, and was unstoppable with 5 steals.  But it was the Patriot defense that really won the game.

            Leigh junior Kyle Kasik, stated, “For a big rivalry game it definitely felt good to end with a win, and will give us some momentum along with some confidence going into the rest of the season.” 

            The end of the match was 45-42, leaving the Patriots with the win. 

            On December 21, 2021, there was a battle versus the Lakeview Vikings held in Leigh. Once again, the Patriot boys took care of business, and after leading by 11 points at halftime, they finished the game up by 9. 

            The final score was 52-41.

            Carter Hanel played an explosive inside game, contributing 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 steals. 

            “The Lakeview game was a nice win for our program,” Head Coach Jeff Bachman said. “We played well against a really solid team. It was fun to pick up a key win against a sub-district opponent.”
