JH Girls Gain Experience

By: Izzy Hollatz, a freshman at Leigh High School

On December 6th, the junior high girls’ basketball team headed to Battle Creek to face the Braves. The Girls Junior High team also played Schuyler in Clarkson on December 14.

December 6 wasn’t the best night for the Junior High girls as the A team lost 20-26, but the B team only played 2 quarters and came out with a win of 7-0.

Coach Melissa Brabec was asked how the Battle Creek game went, and she said, “The girls played hard. We did a good job of applying our fundamental skills and looking inside for shots. We will keep working hard and improve with each game!”

On the other hand, the Schuyler game went really well for this junior high girls team. The C team led off the night with a 18-12 win. After that amazing win, the B team girls won 36-6. Finishing off the night, the A team played a great game and beat the Warriors 42-0.

When asked about the Schuyler game, Vylet Hollatz, a 7th grader at Leigh, said, “We were very aggressive in the game, we played our hardest, and most of all, we played as a team. After using all of these things, we came out with an amazing win.”

These games bring the A-team girls’ record to 3-4.  The B team has a record of 2-3.  The C team record is 2-2.
