Wrestlers Battle Hard at Osceola and Logan View

By: Sydney Reeves, a junior at Leigh High School

                  Osceola was the site of a full day of high school wrestling on Saturday, December 11th.

This was the Patriots’ second invite of this year’s season, and it proved to be a tough day of competition, as they knew it would be.

They battled throughout the day even though they were missing three kids that day. There were 18 teams total at the tournament. Overall, the Patriot wrestlers earned 12th place.

Sophomore, Dylan Higby said, “Going into the tournament, we knew it would be tough but we wrestled hard and came out with some medals.”

Individual Records for the Tournament:

Bryce Jurgensen: 2-3; Dylan Higby: 3-2; James Grotelueschen: 2-3; Jaden Stoklasa: 3-2 (6th); Jackson Koehn: 3-2 (5th); Dillan Maple: 2-3;

                  The Patriots followed this up with a quad at Logan View the following Tuesday, December 14th. The other teams at this quad included Archbishop Bergan, Howells-Dodge, and Logan View.

The night started out with a fairly close dual for the Patriots, but they couldn’t manage to pull off a win against Bergan. The final score was 36-42.

The second dual of the night was tougher for Clarkson-Leigh. The Patriot wrestlers faced Logan View and lost with a score of 18-60.

In the final dual of the night, the Patriots faced Howells-Dodge. They ended the night well, winning in a very tight dual, defeating the Jaguars by one point with a score of 36-35.

                  Head Coach, Tyler Reeves said, “We started off slow but finished the night strong.”

                  We wish the Clarkson-Leigh wrestling team good luck on the rest of their season!
