Patriots Finish 8th of 23 teams at Neligh

By: Ella Urban, a freshman at Leigh High School

Another Saturday, another tournament!

Neligh was the site of competition for the Patriot wrestlers on Saturday, January 22 at the Neligh-Oakdale Invite.

Even with sophomore Dylan Higby unable to wrestle due to a concussion, the Patriots still finished an impressive 8th out of 23 teams at Neligh!

Morgan Bunner, a sophomore at Leigh High School, stated, “I think we all wrestled well at Neligh. Most of our wrestlers won their pool and were able to medal at the end of the day.”

Bunner placed 3rd in his weight class, while Isaac Baumert and Cooper Vance both finished 2nd.  Bryce Jurgensen, Jaden Stoklasa, Jacob Koehn, Jackson Koehn, and Dillan Maple also placed in their respective weight classes.

Head Clarkson-Leigh Wrestling coach Tyler Reeves stated, I was really happy to finish eighth as a team, as we are pretty beat up right now. We are really looking forward to the East Husker Conference tournament next week.”

“Everyone who wrestled, wrestled hard and was able to do the things we practiced and do them well. I am excited to see what East Husker and districts have in store for our team in the upcoming weeks,” Bunner added.
