Class of 2022 Senior Spotlight: Cortlynn Cadwallader
By: Aubrie Hanna, a sophomore at Leigh High School
Cortlynn Rose Cadwallader was brought into this wonderful world on October 4, 2004, and became the only daughter of Randy and Rhonda and granddaughter of Beverly Cadwallader of Grand Island. She has three older brothers, Charles (37), Tyler (32), and Trenton (23). Her family also has a golden lab named Sadie and a black, white, and grey cat named Tigger.
Throughout her time at LHS, Cortlynn has taken part in choir for four years; golf for three years; Stream Team for two years; and FBLA, One-Act, and FFA for one year. During her time at Leigh High School, she’s not only been on the A/B Honor Roll, but has also been named “Student of the Month.”
Her proudest high school moment though, is bringing girls golf back to the Clarkson-Leigh schools and being part of that team.
In the future, Cortlynn wants to continue on to college at NECC for her first two years, and then transfer to University of Nebraska-Kearney to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.
In 10-15 years, she can see herself being a teacher close to home and married, or at least in a relationship. She also mentioned that she’d like to have either a micro pig or a finger monkey as a pet.
Cortlynn is far more than good grades, excellent participation in extracurriculars, and micro pigs and finger monkeys, though. Three words that describe her are caring, artistic, and generous.
Cortlynn’s favorites include the TV show MacGyver, the movie High School Musical 2, and the song “Unsaid Emily” by Julie and the Phantoms Cast. Outside of school, she enjoys archery, playing card and board games, and drawing. Her favorite food is chicken alfredo.
Three major points on her bucket list include going to Disney World, having her own family, and owning a zoo. In fact, if she won the lottery, Cortlynn said that she would buy enough land to have her own zoo. She’d hire her nephew Wylee to be the zoo keeper while she’s teaching.
From the wise words of Cortlynn herself, “Enjoy the little things because once high school ends, you’ll only have the memories to share.”
