Class of 2022 Senior Spotlight: Justine Thompson

By: Natalie Brabec, a senior at Leigh High School

This week’s senior spotlight for the LHS Class of 2022 is none other than Justine Jo Thompson.

Justine was born on May 14th, 2004, in Norfolk, Nebraska, to Bryce and Amy Thompson. She also has a brother Seth, 23.

Her grandparents are Ralph and Barb Tichota of Clearwater and Larry and Barb Thompson of Pilger. She has also two dogs, Angus and Arrow. We can’t forget her multiple horses as well.

Throughout high school, Justine has participated in FFA for four years, One-Act for four years, YAC for three years, and yearbook for three years. While in high school, she has been the FFA Historian, on the A honor roll all four years and the YAC secretary. Her proudest accomplishment in high school was when she earned 2nd on her FFA Proficiency at State.

When she’s not in school, Justine’s biggest hobby is riding horses and working with her horses.

Her future plans are to work for a horse trainer after high school with future plans of earning a Bachelor's Degree in Equine Sciences from CSV.

In 10-15 years, she hopes to develop her own horse training and breeding program, and if she were to one day win the lottery, she would build a horse training/breeding facility and buy a Dodge Charger. Things on her bucket list even include winning the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Futurity as well as the Barrel Futurities of America (BFA) Juvenile.  She would also someday like to go to the National Finals Rodeo.

When she is not working with her horses, Justine could be found watching her favorite show, Yellowstone,” listening to her favorite song, “Coyote” by Jarrod Morris, or eating at her favorite restaurant, Aroma Circuit.  If Justine could travel anywhere in the world, she would go to Alaska and see the Northern Lights.

A favorite memory Justine has of high school is going back and forth to Clarkson with Natalie for Spanish.  She also has an interesting pet peeve in that she hates it when windshield wipers go faster than they need to.

A person Justine admires in her life is her brother, Seth, because she said he works very hard.

One word to describe Justine is “done.” She has always been the one to know how many days until graduation it would be!

Her advice to underclassmen would be to take one day at a time.

We wish Justine good luck, and we hope that she succeeds in all of her endeavors!
