Junior High Boys BBall Ends Season

By: Ella Urban, a freshman at Leigh High School

The junior high boys’ Patriot basketball team recently completed their season with their final two games against Humphrey St. Francis and Madison.

On February 7, the boys’ basketball team battled Humphrey St. Francis, but unfortunately the scores did not fall in their favor. The B team lost 16-44, and the A team lost 35-44.

Blake Loeske, a seventh grader from Leigh, said, “I thought that as a team we can learn from the St. Francis game and improve. We could have done a lot better. However, I also think that we tried our best and we hustled as much as we could on the court.”

On February 10th the boys basketball team battled Madison in the final game of the year. These games had a much better outcome. The final score for the B team was 34-10 and the final score for the A team was 41-30.

Mr. Andrew Bachman, the coach for the boys’ junior high team, stated, “Against Madison, each team had a great first half. Our defense was playing well and was aggressive. That defense led to some easy transition baskets. Overall, it was a good way to end the season, and I’m proud of how our boys competed this year.”

The final A-team record for the year ended 7-3, and the B-team finished 4-5.
