Leigh Falls to Hartington-Newcastle in Quiz Bowl Competition

On Monday, February 28, the Leigh High School’s Quiz Bowl team competed against Hartington-Newcastle. This was the third competition of the year on the KTCH radio program’s annual Quiz Bowl.
64 area schools, both large and small, competed in the competition, and Leigh made it to the Sweet 16.
In this third-round matchup against Hartington-Newcastle, however, Leigh couldn’t keep their win streak alive. Hartington-Newcastle was victorious and will advance to the next round of the tournament. The final score was 1-2. This eliminates Leigh from the competition.
The participating members of this round were senior Calvin Wemhoff, senior Kanyon Held, and junior Kyle Holmberg. The rest of the team consists of seniors Kennedy Settje, Makenna Held, Justine Thompson, and Audie Tejkl along with juniors Jessica Hoffman and Kyle Holmberg.
Senior Makenna Held said, “Quiz Bowl was a great experience. We didn’t get to our end goal, but we had fun and look forward to our in-person quiz bowl invite later in March.”
