Patriots Win Big in C Team Game Against Madison

By: Logan Schroeder, a senior at Leigh High School

The Clarkson-Leigh Patriot Boys C-Team hosted the Madison Dragons on Monday, February 7, 2022.

A slow offensive start for the Patriots kept the game close up until the third quarter. In the first quarter, the Patriots outscored the Dragons 7-3. In the second quarter, Clarkson Leigh scored 9 to Madison’s 5, making the score 16-8 going into halftime.

After the half, the Patriots found their offensive groove and outscored Madison 11-5 in the third quarter. Clarkson Leigh added to their lead in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Dragons 17-13 and making the final score 44-26.

Big contributors for the Patriots were Christian Hamernik with 10 points and Joey Steffensmeier with 12 points.

When asked about the game, coach Willie Hollatz said, “In the first half we missed too many easy shots and had too many turnovers, but in the second half we took care of the ball and moved it well and found guys open for easy buckets.”

Sophomore Jordan Noonan said, “I think we played an overall good game. We started a little slow but once we figured it out we played really well.”

This brings the C team record to 4-2.
