By: Gracie Eisenmann, a sophomore at Leigh High School

The Leigh-Clarkson FCCLA Chapter recently joined 440 other Nebraska FCCLA chapters at the FCCLA Peer Education Conference in Kearney on Monday, February 28. The theme for this year's conference was "Small Changes, Big Impact."

Natalie Brabec, President of the Leigh-Clarkson FCCLA Chapter attended the conference alongside advisor Megan Hillen.

To open up the conference, members of the State Peer Officer Team were introduced and shared information about their National Programs. Awards were then awarded to chapters who participated in the Family Leader, Career Leader, and Community Leader Outreach projects.

In addition, there were several speakers and sessions. The keynote speaker for the conference was Maile Ilac Boeder from The Leadership Center in Aurora. Her powerful presentation kept members active and engaged. Some of the other sessions that were presented at the conference were Shannon Olberding of Atkinson, who spoke about Body Positivity/Mental and Physical Health, and Vanessa Parra who shared her message on Abusive Relationships.

“The peer education conference was a great time to meet up with members before the State Leadership Conference again!” Brabec said. “The SPOT officers did a great job planning this conference with a great keynote speaker!”
