The Patriot boys’ golf team competed in their first two meets of the year this week.
For their first meet of the year on Monday, March 28, they headed to Indian Trails Golf Club in Beemer for the West Point-Beemer Golf Invitational. Then they were headed to David City to the David City Golf Course on Tuesday, March 29.
Sophomore golfer James Grotelueschen said, “We’ve got a pretty good young team. It's been a tough start to the season with our home course not being open yet, but we’ve traveled to Beemer for practice just to get on a course. But I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.”
Groteluschen, along with Mason Whitmore, Ryan Brichacek, Jase Indra, and Christian Hamernik madeup the varsity team at West Point. Indra shot the low score of the day for the Patriots with 106.
At the David City invite, Brichacek led the team with a 91.
“These two meets were a little rough,” Head Coach Andrew Faltys said. “The wind blew hard. We need to have some decent practice weather too fully grasp the game of golf.”
