Class of 2022 Senior Spotlight: Calvin Wemhoff

By: Natalie Brabec, a senior at Leigh High School

This week’s senior spotlight is on none other than Calvin Victor Wemhoff.

Calvin was born on July 18, 2004, at Columbus Community Hospital to Jon and Deana Wemhoff. He was later joined with his three younger brothers: Simon, 15; Brett, 13; and Michael Wemhoff, 12; to make them a family of six, along with their dog named Sydney.

Calvin’s grandparents are the late Victor and Janet Johnson of Albion and Laura Wemhoff and the late Victor Wemoff of Columbus.

During his High School Career, Calvin has been involved in One-Act for 2 years, FBLA for 1 year, and Quiz Bowl for 2 years.  He has also been a member of the Leigh Youth Advisory Committee for 3 years.

Other honors Calvin has won in high school include “Student of the Month” and many awards from Northeast Scholastic Day each year including 1st in World History, 2nd in American History and American Government and 4th in Vocabulary.

His future plans include attending Northeast Community College for Building Construction.

If he won the lottery, Calvin would invest some of the money and buy an acreage with the rest. If he was able to travel the world and go anywhere, he says he would go to Siberia for the pristine nature.

Calvin says he sees himself working around the area as a carpenter in 10 years.

Calvin says the three best words to describe him are “stubborn, wise, and reserved.”

Not a lot gets this senior worked up, but he says his biggest pet peeve is when people don’t know when to stop talking.

Three goals on his bucket list are buying an acreage, visiting Europe, and getting rich.

Someone that Calvin admires in his life is his father because Calvin says “he has worked hard his entire life to provide for their family.”

Calvin’s favorite high school memory is his fellow classmate Aiden eating Febreeze. Some of his favorite hobbies include woodworking and gardening. His favorite subject in school is weights, his favorite sports team is the Huskers, and his favorite food is prime rib.

We wish Calvin the best of luck as he begins a new journey!
