By: Paige Kurpgeweit, a freshman at Leigh High School
All golfers appreciate the opportunity to golf on their home course, and on Tuesday, April 12, the Patriot golfers had the chance to do just that at the Patriot Invite!
The teams that attended consisted of David City Aquinas, Howells-Dodge, Clarkson-Leigh, North Bend, St. Francis, Fort Calhoun, Plainview, David City, Cedar Bluffs, Clarkson-Leigh JV, Humphrey/LHF, High Plains, and Lutheran High.
Assistant coach Conner Blum said "The boys battled the wind and the weather all day and ended up shooting really well. They shot a season's best 371 while having two golfers place in the top ten. We're looking forward to having a good rest of the year."
Shooting Varsity for this meet included Ryan Brichacek, Max Muhle, Christian Hamernik, Mic Sayers, and Simon Wemhoff.
Brichacek placed 6th overall individually and Muhle placed 8th! The boys placed third overall out of all the teams! David City Aquinas finished first and Howells-Dodge came in second.
Sophomore Simon Wemhoff said, “It was a fun day. I shot pretty well, and it was nice and cool out with the wind.”
