Patriots Win Two at Home
This week, the Patriot volleyball team had some very challenging games. They knew
going into these games they were going to have to work hard and fight for the win. First they
played Howells-Dodge, which was a tough loss for the team, but then the Patriots bounced back
and won both of their games two days later in their triangular against Madison and Stanton.
The triangular was held Thursday, September 1 st in Leigh. First off for the Patriots were
the Madison Dragons. The Patriots came out with a slow start in the first set, but then found
their energy and took care of business in the second set. During the Madison game many
different players saw some court time.
“The Madison game was a slow-paced game, and we weren’t communicating very well.
The second set, though, we were able to communicate better to make it a better set,” said
sophomore Brynn Settje.
“We served and passed very well against Madison, and it gave us some good
opportunities to find some momentum on offense,” assistant coach Jennifer Remmereid said.
The Patriots second game was against Stanton, which they were ready for. The Patriots
knew going into this game they were going to have to communicate well, have energy, trust
each other, and have fun. This is exactly what they did coming out in the first set, and they were
unstoppable.
In the second set the Patriots lost some momentum, which resulted in losing that set.
The Patriots then fought for the close win of 25-22 in the third set and put another win on their
record.”
“Stanton is a scrappy team and we were able to keep them out of system at key times. It
was good to see our team play the third set with fire and work together to finish the match,”
Coach Remmereid said.
This now leaves the Patriot’s with a 3-2 record so far this season.
