Pats Sweep the Dragons

The Clarkson-Leigh Patriot volleyball team had an exciting sweep on Thursday,
September 8, in Pender. The JV team defeated the Pender Pendragons in the first two sets in a
game best of three.
The Varsity team killed them in the first three sets in a game best out of five. After a
bumpy start to the season, the Patriots needed this win. This was such a fun match and the
Patriots continue to get better each and every day.
“We responded from the Wisner-Pilger loss and played really well,” Assistant Coach
Jennifer Remmereid said. “Everyone clicked, and it showed with the momentum of the game.
We finished each set really strong. We were playing scrappy on defense and were aggressive
hitting and blocking. It was difficult for Pender to battle with us.”
“During the Pender game I think we started off a little slow being down 7-2, but then
found our rhythm and played well together as a team,” sophomore Baylee Settje said. “I feel we
communicated very well and didn’t get down on ourselves when making a mistake, which
resulted in us winning.”
The Patriots won in three straight, never allowing the Pendragons to score over 18
points in a set, bringing their season record to 5-3.
