Conference Quiz Bowl Held in Leigh

Conference Quiz Bowl was held in Leigh at the high school on Monday, March 25, with all Leigh Community Schools staff members pitching in to run the event. A total of 14 schools competed.
The seven students that were on the team were seniors: Logan Becher, Cort Pokorney, Kaegan Held and Holly Kuhr; junior: Reagan Settje; and sophomores: Cassidy Hoffman and Alicia Holmberg.
Unfortunately, the Leigh team fared poorly. At the competitions, the team won 0 of the 3 pool play games, and they lost the first round of the tournament.
Overall, Oakland-Craig defeated West Point Beemer in the finals.
Senior Logan Becher said, “Conference Quiz Bowl didn't go the way that we had hoped. We started out quick to the buzzer and were getting them right, but fell behind. In the end, we were just too timid and couldn't hit the buzzer fast enough. Either way, this was still a good experience and definitely helped prepare us for districts.”
Coach Jay Knaak said, “It was not a very good day for quiz bowl. The other teams just knew more trivia than we did and were faster to the buzzer.”
