LHS Finishes 4th of 21 at NECC Scholastic Day!

On March 27, 2024, the Leigh High School took 22 students on a trip to Norfolk for the annual NECC Scholastic Day. Many students placed, and overall everyone had an amazing day. As a school, Leigh finished in 4th place out of 21 schools!
The 4th place finish comes as many students in the school weren’t even able to be chosen to attend the Scholastic contest due to a track meet.  So it was quite an honor to still finish fourth despite much of the school being unable to participate!
Teachers nominate students to go and take tests of many different subjects. Students can only take up to two tests, no more than that.
As a result to the day, we had 9 students make top 5 in their testing!
Ella Urban placed 1st place in Foods and Nutrition, Brayden Loseke placed 1st place in World History, Aubrie Hanna placed 2nd in Vocabulary and 3rd in Literature, Delanie Erwin placed 2nd in Trigonometry, Luke Eisenmann placed 2nd in Algebra II, Elizabeth Hoffman placed 2nd in Geometry, Brett Wemhoff placed 2nd in Geography, Morgan Bunner placed 4th in American Government, and Kammy Held placed 4th in Public Speaking.
“NECC Scholastic day was an overall success! I think we did really well, and I was excited to see how many people placed,” Aubrie Hannah said.

Along with everyone who made top 5, there were many others who competed as well.
