Choir and Band Students Compete at District Music

 

The Leigh band and choir traveled to Columbus Middle School on Friday, April 15 to compete at the District Music Contest. Each entry is ranked with outstanding (1), excellent (2) or good (3).

The Leigh Choir competed with 14 students and received a 3 rating. 

Small groups were a trumpet duet of Blake Loseke and Brayden Loseke earning a 2 and a vocal trio containing Keeley Campbell, Paige Kurpgeweit, and Amaiya Ross earning a 2 rating. 

Vocal solos included Paige Kurpgeweit earning a 2 rating, Sydney Messerlie earning a 2 rating, and Gabriel Pinkston earning a 2 rating.

 

Instrumental Solos were Emily Stender receiving a 2, Brianne Kuhr receiving a 2, and Gabriel Pinkston earning a 3 rating.

Choir director and co-band director Sydney Wemhoff, said, “District Music went well for everyone. Everyone tried their best in everything they did. The judges had some strong criticism but it is helping everyone improve. 

Junior Amaiya Ross said, "It was a really fun experience, I can’t wait to attend it again next year”.
