“Friends” Forever

Student Opinion Column

In today’s fast-paced society, people often complain about not having enough time.  Yet, most people continue to make time for TV, especially their favorite shows. As adults get off of work, they come and they turn on the TV. As students get home, they turn on the television and start their homework. Since around the 1950s, this black rectangle has been a staple in most homes around the world.

For me, I know my family wouldn’t survive without it. Every night, there are at least three screens on: one in the living room, one in the basement, and one in the study room. Without them, we would be pretty bored at night. But, I can happily say, that I don’t watch a lot of TV, unlike my family members. I am always either working on homework or scholarships, or I am getting home too late from a sports game to even have time to turn on the TV.

However, there is one TV show that I simply MUST fall asleep to each night.

When I do get time to watch a little TV, I always look for comedy. I love laughing at the TV, and I love watching actors and actresses who are hilarious. I also look for shows that have a good plot line behind them and well-developed characters. For these reasons, Friends is the only show that I will never get tired of watching.

The 90s/2000s sitcom Friends is definitely my favorite TV show. Since I have a TV in my room, I turn it on every night, and I never have to change the channel.

When Friends is on, there is never a time when I am not laughing at the screen. With every episode, there is comedy built into the lines and the actions of each character. Also, I like that each episode has a different plot. Every episode is different and the characters deal with different problems. Finally, the thing that I like most about “Friends” is the characters. They are so well developed and each character definitely has their own personality. Without watching the TV, I can tell who is talking by their tone and by their jokes.

I know Friends is an old show and that I am only watching reruns, but I love the humor and I will continue to watch it. My night wouldn’t be the same without it.
