Cyclones Fall Short at Lakeview Tourney

On an average week, the Cyclones have a very busy schedule, playing about 7 games.  This week was no exception, with the Cyclones travelling to Lakeview to compete in the Lakeview tourney on Saturday, September 10.

They competed against hard competitors in this tournament, and unfortunately fell short in all three games.

The first game they played was a tough battle against Ponca. Ponca hit the ball very well, helping lead them to victory, 11-1.

The second game was another tough matchup. The Cyclones played Twin River for the second time that week. The Titans had a solid offense and the Cyclones struggled to put the ball in play, so this led the Titans to victory with a score of 7-1.

The final game the Cyclones played in the tournament was against Boone Central. The Cyclones have played them three times this season, and know how they play. The Cyclones put the ball in play and had lots of base runners, but fell short at the end of the game, losing 5-13.

Sydney Reeves, a senior on the Cyclone softball team, gave an outlook on how the game went. She said, “While we didn't end with the outcome we were hoping for, we learned a lot throughout the day and gained a lot of experience as a team. In the second game against Twin River the scoreboard may not have shown the best, but we battled well.”

The Cyclones have hit mid-season with their games, with lots of games still yet to play. They will continue to battle hard in their games. They may not have a winning record, but they are out there playing the sport they love most and having fun doing it.
