Cyclones Play Back-to-Back Games

The Highway 91 Cyclones took on Boone Central at home Monday night August 21 in their second game of the season and their first on their home field in Leigh. The Cyclones put up a good fight that saw Jordyn Ratzloff hit a home run which brought home two girls, but in the end, it was not enough.  The Cyclones found themselves down early in the game, but managed to hang around until the final inning when the Cardinals ran away with it after scoring many last-minute runs.  The Patriots lost 4-17.

“Boone Central hit the ball very well, and we were unable to keep up with them,” senior Cassi Rayback said.  “It wasn’t how we wanted our first home game to go.”

Assistant coach Tiffany Rayback said, “Offensively, we came out of the gate with a two-run homer.  But we really showed our youth as the game went on.  We need to become more mentally tough, and that’s something we are going to work on moving forward – moving past errors and being in the moment for the next pitch.”

The next night, August 22, the Patriots were back in action against the Pierce Bluejays in Pierce.  Unfortunately, the Cyclones weren’t able to stop a high number of runs from being scored, and they lost this game in similar fashion as the first, 4-12.

The Cyclones are off to a rocky 0-3 start, but there is still a lot of season left to play.

“Things may not be going quite the way we want them to, but we are still working on new positions, and we are always learning new things,” Cassi Rayback said.
