Senior Spotlight: Aubrie Hanna

On February 8, 2006, in Garden City, Kansas, Dr. Michael and Jennifer Hanna were blessed with a daughter, Aubrie Lauren Hanna.

In addition, Aubrie’s grandparents are Tom and Terri Hongsermeier of Ravenna, Nebraska, and the late Vernon and Emma Hanna of Cimarron, Kansas. She also has three siblings: the late Cody Hanna, Abby Judkins (41), and Heidi Johnson (40).

If you don’t know Aubrie, the three words she used to describe herself are honest, caring, and funny. Aubrie has been involved in many extracurricular activities throughout high school, including Journalism, One Act, Band, Quiz Bowl for four years; Speech for three years; FBLA, and National Honor Society for two years, and Yearbook for one year.

Aubrie claims her biggest high school achievement was earning a 4.0 GPA. Throughout Aubrie’s four years she has earned All A Honor Roll, National Honor Society, and Student of the Month.

Aubrie says her favorite high school memory is when her class was left unsupervised for a whole period and chaos ensued.

Aubrie’s favorite hobbies outside of school are to read, listen to music, roller skate, and be involved in 4-H.

Aubrie plans on going to UNK with a major that is undecided. In 10-15 years, she sees herself having a job that she loves and having a family with a pet dog. Some of her goals are to road trip to all 50 states, see the Northern Lights, and maybe publish a book.

If Aubrie won the lottery, she would give money to her family and friends to help pay for student loans and other expenses, and save the rest. And if she was to travel anywhere it would be to see her favorite bands perform in concert.

Aubrie said she admires so many people in her life, and one of those people is her sister, Abby. “I admire her because she’s selfless and so understanding, and she truly cares for others and helps those who need it,” Aubrie said.

Aubrie’s advice to underclassman is, “Everyone says it, but it’s true: high school goes pretty fast. Take advantage of everything you can, and become friends with your classmates, because it’s worth it in the end.”

We wish Aubrie the best of luck with her future and all she hopes to accomplish!
