Senior Spotlight: Cassandra Rayback

Anthony and Tiffany Rayback welcomed a baby girl, Cassandra Marie Rayback, on January 12, 2006, at Columbus Community Hospital. Cassi has three sisters: Payje, age 22; Kyleigh, age 20; Matelyn, age 14; and one brother, Brinx, age 6.

Cassandra's grandparents are Mark Schilling and the late Collette Schilling of Columbus, NE; and Greg and the late Cheryl Rayback and Marlene Rayback of Mesa, Arizona.

To round out her family, she has two pets, a dog named Elliot, and a cat named Oreo.

Cassi has participated in softball for 4 years, basketball for 3 years, track for 4 years, One-Act for 4 years, FCCLA for 6 years, dance for 2 years, speech for 1 year, journalism for 4 years, and yearbook for 3 years.

She is involved with the Leigh Youth Advisory Committee, and also works at Just Another Mini Mart.

Some of Cassandra’s honors in high school include being crowned Homecoming Queen, and being named 2nd team All-Conference in softball her sophomore and senior year.

Cassi says her proudest high school accomplishment was winning homecoming queen.

Her favorite high school memory is making it to district finals in softball her sophomore year. She says her most embarrassing moment was when she fell down the stairs in the old school.

After high school, Cassi plans on attending Northeast Community College to major in nursing.  She hopes to obtain her RN in three years and go on to UNMC and receive her BSN in nursing. After college, she hopes to work at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk.

In 10-15 years, Cassi sees herself in a brand-new home, having a great job, getting married, and having a family.

If Cassi won the lottery, she would travel around the world. If she could travel to any place in the world, she would go to Greece because it is a beautiful place. Three things on her bucket list include going skydiving, visiting a different country, and getting her dream job.

Cassi has many favorite things.  Her favorite movie is Purple Hearts and her favorite show is Love Island.  Her favorite song is “Marry You” by Bruno Mars, and her favorite sports team is the Huskers.  Her favorite food is chicken quesadilla and mac and cheese.  Her favorite restaurant is Olive Garden.  Her favorite class in school is Culinary Arts, and her favorite hobbies outside of school are spending time with friends and family and going shopping. Cassi’s biggest pet peeve is people chewing loudly, and her bad habit is chewing on her fingernails.

Three words that describe Cassi are Athletic, amiable, and reliable.

Someone Cassi admires in her life is her sister, Payje. “She has worked hard to be where she has gotten today, and I look up to her the most. She has shown me what determination and hard work can do.”

Her advice to underclassmen is “Learn to get along with your classmates. You may not like them all, but you will realize how fast high school goes and the little amount of time you actually have with these people.”
