Girls Finish Third at Aquinas Meet

For the second track meet of the season, the Clarkson-Leigh Patriots competed at the David City Aquinas Invite on April 5, 2024. There were 8 teams that competed at the meet.

The girls’ team received 3rd place overall. Maizie Stoklasa had a very successful day for the team. Stoklasa placed first in long jump and triple jump, and she placed second in the 200-meter dash. Stoklasa broke the Patriot triple jump record with a jump of 37’07”. She was also a part of the first place 4x100M relay team with her teammates Brynn Settje, Tanyn Larson, and Chloe Hanel.

Brynn Settje placed second in triple jump and long jump, and Tanyn Larson placed second in the 100-meter dash.

Brynn Settje said, “I feel like the track meet went very well for a lot of people. This was only the second meet for everyone so everyone was happy with the results that we got. Everyone tried their hardest and supported their teammates as they were doing their events.

For being low in numbers, the boys’ team did their best to compete. Trey Steffensmeier took home the most points for the team. He placed first in triple jump and second in long jump.

Head Coach Briana Wietfeld said, “Friday's meet at Aquinas started off with some excitement that continued throughout the meet. Although we did not have our full team, we still made an impact. To start the day, Maizie broke the Patriot record in triple jump, jumping 37’5”. We got 1st and 2nd in the triple with Maizie's jump and then Brynn's. We took home medals in long jump as well as other field events. We continued to collect hardware in the running events as well. The excitement continued when our girls 4x1 team set a personal record this season in their time and won the gold medal. Many athletes took home medals and showed great potential.”
