Sophomore Ag Students Compete in Land Judging Contest

Sophomore Layne Krutz (left) is pictured with other students from area schools participating in the Land Judging event.

The Sophomore Natural Resources class traveled to Oakland on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 to participate in Land Judging.

The students that participated consisted of Trevor Zulkoski, Layne Krutz, Riana Groteluschen, Emily Loseke, Alissa Kasik, Lance Paprocki, Emily Cech, Molly Langhorst, and Austin Sayers.

FFA advisor, Brandy Held said, “Land Judging went well this year, and I was proud of how all of the students did. There were approximately 250 students from Northeast Nebraska competing.  Trevor Zulkoski and Lance Paproski placed, receiving white ribbons, which is a huge accomplishment. Many schools bring upper classmen, so as sophomores they compete against juniors and seniors. I'm excited to build our Land Judging team and hope more students become involved in this activity.”

Sophomore Emily Loseke said, “It was a great experience. I have never done anything like land judging before, and I learned lots of new things that I hope I’ll be able to use in my future. Overall, I had lots of fun and it was a great day.”
