Pre-K Celebrates Literacy Night

Calling all superheroes!

The Leigh Pre-K students attended the Pre-K Literacy Night on Thursday, February 20. “Students and their families participated in literacy-based games and crafts as well as a STEM challenge.  They also powered up with a healthy snack!” said Pre-K teacher Mrs. Cash.

Students had the chance to read stories about superheroes to show off their super reading skills by looking at the pictures. They were able to make a craft of their own superhero. They let their imagination fly as they took a popsicle stick and glued a hero together, but they did not forget the best part of putting on a cape.

Students also put their power of breath to the test. They took a balloon and put a straw on it, then placed the straw on a string. They filled up the balloon with as much hot air as they could muster to see if their balloon could travel the farthest.

“Our Superhero Family Literacy Night was a success!” Mrs. Cash said. “Pre-K students from both morning and afternoon classes were invited to attend this special event with their families.  All of our activities for the evening were centered around our superhero theme. This Pre-K family event was made possible with the help of many!
