JH Boys’ Basketball Beats Columbus Scotus

By: Izzy Hollatz, a freshman at Leigh High School

On January 17th, the junior high boys’ basketball team battled Christ Lutheran (Norfolk) in a game at Leigh. They also headed to Columbus to face Scotus in a basketball game on January 20th.

The Christ Lutheran game on January 17th was unfortunately a rough night for the boys’ basketball team as the A-team lost the game 19-41 to a very good Christ Lutheran team. This was the only game for this night.

When asked about the Christ Lutheran game, Coach Andrew Bachman said, “Christ Lutheran showed up with an athletic, well-balanced team. We struggled to find a rhythm offensively, and it showed on the scoreboard. Playing good teams like this will only make us better, and we looked at it as an opportunity to grow and talk about where we want to be as a team in the future.”

Just a few days later, the boys bounced back and had a great night against Columbus Scotus. The A-team came out with a win, 43-13, and the B team pulled off a win with a score of 25-13.

“As a team we had great effort on the court, and that translated to a good team win,” eighth grader Kyle McMullin said.

The boys’ A-team record is now 3-1, and the B-team record is 2-1.
