Large Volleyball Squad Begins Season
Pats Sweep Pierce and Lakeview in Jamboree
On Thursday, August 17, 2023, the Patriot Volleyball Team took off to Lakeview to start off their season with a jamboree against Lakeview and Pierce.
Their first game was against Pierce. The Patriots won the first set with a score of 25-19. The Patriots then won the second set with a score of 25-23 for a two-set sweep of the Bluejays.
Their second game of the night was against Lakeview. They won the first set against the Vikings with a score of 25-16. The Patriot volleyball team ended the night winning the second set with a score of 25-15, sweeping both opponents.
This year the Patriot Volleyball team is competing in Class C-2 again, and hopes to end their season at state once again.
The seniors leading the team this year consist of Alyssa Gurnsey, Chloe Hanel, Tanyn Larson, and Gracelyn Eisenmann.
The juniors consist of Izabel Hollatz, Kammy Held, Cadence Indra, Brynn Settje, Baylee Settje, Rylee Balzer, and Makenna Hake.
The sophomores are Kendall Schneider, Ava Kasik, Liz Hoffman, Nevaeh Zulkoski, and Karly Wendt.
Finally, the freshman on this year’s large squad are Reese Wietfeld, Ava Baumert, Vylet Hollatz, Kyla Clarkson, Ella Higby, Graicee Sortino, Ella Baumert, Carmen Malena, Claire Holoubek, Kaylee Brabec, Maizie Stoklasa, Chelsy Matthies, Madilyn Freudenburg, and Emersyn Urban.
The team is once again coached by Becky Schneider. Assistant coaches include Becca Hiatt, Tyler Brester, Bri Bachman, and Mallori Kucera.
Student managers are Chloe Indra, Lainey Urban, Tynzlee Hake, Avery Kuester, Averi Clausen, and Jordyn Balzer.
The Patriots’ first regular season game is against Howells-Dodge on August 29.
