Third Place Finish!

JH VBall Finishes Third in Home Tourney

Saturday, September 9th was a very successful day for the Clarkson-Leigh Junior High volleyball team at their home tournament held in Leigh!

The Clarkson-Leigh girls were in pool one for their tournament. To kick off the day, the Lady Patriots played the Howells Dodge B team. The Patriots were able to pull through and win in their first game of the day. The first set of the game was Patriots, 25-7, and the final set was 25-6.

In their second game of the day, the Lady Patriots played Humphrey-Lindsay. The Patriots battled hard, but in the end they didn’t get the win they were hoping for. The score of the first set was 23-25 in favor of the Bulldogs.  The last set was a disappointment as the Patriots lost 7-25.

With a 1-1 record on the day, the girls were seeded to play for third against the Howells-Dodge A team.  They ended their day with a win and defeated H-D in a hard-fought game, 27-25, 25-20.

Coach Seth Cash said, “Early Saturday mornings are always tough for junior high kids.  I thought we came out strong with a win against a struggling Howells-Dodge (B) team, but we struggled, however, with a much better Humphrey-Lindsay team.  We dropped the first set in a close one, but then struggled to gain any momentum in the second set.  We were able to bounce back in the 3rd place game and pull off a close win against a better Howells-Dodge (A) team (27-25, 25-20).  That win was a nice way to finish the day.  The girls fought hard and earned the 3rd place spot in the tournament.  There are holes in our game that we are going to address and learn from.  Overall, I was very happy with how we performed.”

This brings the A team record to 5-1 so far this season!  In all, we congratulate the junior high volleyball girls for their hard work on Saturday! We wish you the best of luck in the rest of your season!
