Lots of Success Competing in the Norfolk Classic

Every year track athletes from across Northeast Nebraska are selected to compete in the Norfolk Classic Track Meet held at Norfolk High School. The coaches submit events that you compete in and the top people in each event are invited to compete.

On Wednesday, April 24, six Clarkson-Leigh track athletes were selected to compete in the Norfolk Classic. Clarkson freshman Maizie Stoklasa competed in long jump, triple jump, 100-meter dash, and 4 by 1 relay.

Leigh sophomore Ava Kasik competed in the 300 hurdles. Clarkson sophomore Kendall Schneider competed in the 4 by 1 relay. Leigh junior Brynn Settje competed in long jump, triple jump, and 4 by 1 relay. Leigh senior Tanyn Larson competed in the 4 by 1 relay.

Stoklasa ended up placing 1st in long jump with a jump of 17 '11”, 2nd in triple jump with a jump of 37 '3”, 2nd in the 100-meter dash.

Kasik ran the 300 hurdles in a time of 51.74 but did not place. Settje ended up getting 6th in triple jump with a jump of 33’5”, and scratched in the long jump. The 4 by 1 team finished 3rd with a time of 51.3 seconds.

Ava Kasik said, “Although it was a more intimidating atmosphere to compete in, it was a great opportunity and experience for me and the other qualifiers.”

Head coach Briana Wietfeld said, “It was great to qualify five athletes for the Norfolk Classic. These 5 have put in their time and full effort to get to this stage, and it was great to have them place.  Overall, these girls did great and were fun to watch!”
