McMullin and Reichmuth Crowned Homecoming Royalty

As homecoming week came to a close, the 2014 Leigh homecoming king and queen were crowned on Friday, October 10 after the Clarkson-Leigh Patriot football game against the Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Bulldogs. Matthew McMullin was crowned the 2014 Homecoming King, and Sheila Reichmuth was crowned the 2014 Homecoming Queen.

Matthew McMullin is the son of Mark and Julie McMullin.  He has been involved in

basketball, football, FFA, band and speech for four years; track and National Honor Society for three years; journalism for two years, and One-Act for one year.  He also attended Cornhusker Boys’ State.  He is a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and youth group.

Sheila Reichmuth is the daughter of Rita and David Reichmuth.  She has been involved in basketball, track, band, and speech for four years; volleyball, National Honor Society, and yearbook for three years; choir, One-Act, and journalism for two years; and dance, softball, and cheer for one year.  She has also been involved in 4-H for 10 years and attended Cornhusker Girls’ State.  She is a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and youth group

            In addition to Reichmuth, homecoming queen candidates were Hanna Hake, Hallee Held, and Alyssa Oeltjen.

            Hanna Hake is the daughter of Glen and Monica Hake. She has been involved in

FFA, band, choir, and volleyball for four years; dance, yearbook and National Honor Society for three years; cheer, One-Act, journalism, and class officer for two years; and student council for one year.  She also attended Cornhusker Girls’ State.  She is a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and youth group.

Hallee Held is the daughter of Michelle and Kit Held.  She has been involved in

volleyball, basketball,  FFA, band, choir and dance for four years; yearbook for three years; and One-Act, journalism, track, and travel club for two years.  She is a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and Luther League.

            Alyssa Oeltjen is the daughter of Boyd and Brenda Oeltjen.  She has been involved in FCCLA, basketball, volleyball, track, band, and choir for four years; and One-Act for two years.  She is a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

            In addition to McMullin, homecoming king candidates were Kyle Kabes, Ben Kuhr, and Nick Wendt.

            Kyle Kyle is the son of Sue and Tom Kabes.  He has been involved in football, band, golf and FFA for 4 years and basketball for one year.  Kyle is a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and youth group.

            Ben Kuhr is the son of Beth and Russ Kuhr.  He has been involved in football, FFA, band, speech, and track for four years; National Honor Society for three years, One-Act for two years, and journalism and basketball for one year.  He is a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and youth group.

            Nick Wendt is the son of Randy and Tammy Wendt.  He has been involved in football, basketball, FFA and band for four years; track for two years; and One-Act and journalism for one year.  Nick is a member of Zion Lutheran Church. 

            Crownbearers for the evening were Karly Wendt and Kyle McMullin.  Karly is the daughter of Gary and Kandy Wendt.  Kyle is the son of Mark and Julie McMullin.  Both are first-graders at Leigh Elementary. 

         McMullin and Reichmuth were crowned by the 2013 king, Zach Kuhr, and Jayden Pokorney, who was filling in for the 2013 Queen, Allison Olmer.  Kuhr is now a freshman at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and Pokorney is a freshman at Wayne State College. 

            The Clarkson Homecoming king and queen were also crowned Friday night after the football game.  Clarkson’s queen candidates were KLyn Loupour, Tayler Gall, Kaitlyn Dlouhy, and Jenna Podany.  Candidates for king were Christopher Konicek, Kolton Krause, Austin McAuliffe, and Keaton Indra. There was a tie for both Clarkson’s queen and king with KLyn Lopour and Tayler Gall both being crowned queen, and Kolton Krause and Austin McAuliffe both being crowned king.

            The homecoming dance was held at Clarkson High School Saturday night from 7:30 to 11:30.
