Sam DeBord and Logan Becher Named “Students of the Month”
This month’s “Students of the Month” were announced at a short assembly on Monday, February 1.
“Student of the Month” is a school-wide effort to honor students who deserve recognition for their outstanding character, efforts in the classroom, and/or extracurricular accomplishments. Teachers nominate students each month, then all teachers vote on two students from all the nominations received. Besides public recognition, winners are awarded their choice of a parking pass next to the main doors, a homework pass, an activity pass for the month, or control of the remote at lunch.
We are pleased to announce that this month’s very deserving winners are Samantha DeBord and Logan Becher!
DeBord is a sophomore at Leigh High School. She is the daughter of Scott and Rachelle DeBord. She participates in FCCLA, speech, One-Act, journalism, and Youth Advisory Council. Sam’s favorite subject in school is technology applications, and her favorite hobbies are listening to music, reading, and watching Netflix. At this point, Sam’s goal after high school is to open her own restaurant in Chicago or other major city.
“I was somewhat surprised to win this award, but I was very honored,” DeBord said.
Becher is a freshman at Leigh. He is the son of Bill and Jill Becher. He participates in One-Act, speech, basketball, golf, FFA, and FCCLA. His favorite subjects in school are social studies and ag, and his favorite hobby is playing golf.
Becher also expressed surprise at winning the award.
“I was very surprised to hear them call my name, but I am very thankful to my teachers for the recognition,” Becher said.
