April Brabec Thriving as New Elementary Secretary

There is a new face behind the secretary’s desk at Leigh Elementary this year.  April Brabec began as the new school secretary last school year and is ready to take on her first full school year in the position.

Mrs. Brabec took over for former secretary Penny Janousek.

“I have really enjoyed my time here already,” Mrs. Brabec said.  “Leigh is a great school with an outstanding staff and hard-working students.  Everyone has made me feel very welcome.  This school year I am most looking forward to getting to know the staff and kids even better.”

After graduating from Madison High School, Mrs. Brabec attended one year at Chadron State College before earning her degree from Northeast Community College.

Prior to working at Leigh, Mrs. Brabec, worked as the General Manager at Pizza Hut in Madison for many years. After that, she was the Middle School SPED Para-Educator/Business Manager Assistant at Madison Public Schools.

When asked about the most rewarding part of her job at the elementary, she said, “I’ve been loving all aspects of my job and the variety of job duties.”

On the other hand, Mrs. Brabec said that her most challenging part of being the new secretary is not always knowing if she is doing all that needs to be done.

“I never want to miss anything!” she said.

April resides 5 miles east of Madison with her husband, Andy Brabec, who is a former Leigh graduate.  Andy and April have three kids: Dylan, Carter, and Sadie.

The staff gives Mrs. Brabec a hearty welcome and wishes her the best this school year!
