Madisyn Pelan and Zoey VanDyke Named First “Students of the Month”

Wow, what a tremendous start to a new school year! All effort and hard work put forth by students surely has not gone unnoticed. As September was our first full month of school, we recently elected our first 2017-18 Students of the Month. Our well-deserving winners were freshman Madisyn Pelan and seventh-grader Zoey VanDyke.

Madisyn Pelan is the daughter of Dan and Tracy Pelan. As a freshman in high school, she is involved in many activities such as volleyball, One-Act play, FCCLA, journalism, choir, and track. Her favorite subject in school is science.  Her favorite hobby outside of school is running.

“Winning this award made me feel appreciated, like all the good things that I’m doing are getting noticed,” Maddie said.

Here are some of the good things teachers had to say about Madisyn:

• Madisyn works really hard in the classroom and is willing to try new things.  She is generally cheerful and bubbly; and is a very helpful and positive influence to her classmates and teammates.

• Madisyn has been extremely helpful this year. She has also shown tremendous improvement in her grades.

• Maddie makes class very enjoyable. She is always very polite and goofy. She shows tremendous potential and is great to have in class.

• Madisyn has excelled in class this year and improved her academic work. She is always helpful and courteous to others. Her goofy side makes her a joy to have in class.

Our second winner of the September student of the month was Zoey VanDyke. Zoey is the daughter of Casey and Gina VanDyke. Her favorite subject is Writing, and her favorite hobby is writing and reading stories and books.

“

I got really excited when I heard that I was student of the month,” Zoey said.  “Being student of the month lets me know that I am doing really good in my first year at the high school.”

Here are some of the good things teachers had to say about Zoey-

• Zoey is a very bright and intelligent young lady. She adds to classroom discussion effectively. She is also a very kind and courteous person.

• Zoey continuously goes above and beyond on projects in class. Great leadership, hard work, and a positive role model in 7th grade.

• Zoey is a very hard worker. She is friendly, kind and very helpful. She has done a great job transitioning to the high school and is achieving very well in her classes.
