Patriot Dance Team Takes Home Double Golds at Centura Competition!
After traveling for two hours all the way to Cairo, Nebraska on January 14 to participate in a dance competition at Centura High School, the Patriot elite dance team took home two first place trophies in both categories they competed in!
There were a total of five teams in the Patriots’ division (Class C/D). The Pats took home first in the Pom and Hip Hop categories, beating out much larger schools.
“Heading into the competition I think we were all nervous, but with practice and having fun we came out with two first place trophies” says head coach Rachel Ruprecht.
“We started off with the competition being first to go in Hip-Hop,” Rupprecht continued. “We went out and performed well. Next we got a nice break and performed almost last in our Pom dance. Again we came out strong with confidence. This competition was a good experience because it gave us an idea of what state will be like.”
“I was really excited to head to the Centura competition to show people that even though we are a small team from a small school, we have a lot to bring to the table. It was a great experience to have and I am glad we went,” sophomore Taya Gross said.
The Patriot Dance team will take these routines to the Nebraska State Dance Competition at Heartland Event Center in Grand Island on Friday, February 16.
